Last March, two of the stray cats at the barn had kittens. One had only had one baby, which I brought home at 2 wks old, bottle fed, and found a new home. The other cat had four kittens, which the other momma took over raising after I took her single baby. She moved them before I could capture them. Over the course of the summer both momma cats disappeared, but the kittens would come and go. For the longest time I only saw one kitten, and that was Funny Face. But two wks ago the other three kittens reappeared and also did one of the missing mommas. Where they disappear to I do not know, but I always keep two dished full of food for them. The tom cat has also started hanging around along with another stray kitten abut the same size as those kittens born last March.
Then four days ago I discovered three new kittens about four wks old. I assume they belong to one of the kittens born last March. I wish I had the money to capture them all and spay them but I don't. I'm having all I can do just to feed them.
I decided it's cheaper to raise the 3 new kittens to the age of being able to go to new homes, than having to feed them their whole adult lives. I think as domestic cats they will fair much better than left to their own in the barn, prey to whatever animals come along.
Funny Face sat and watched me removed the kittens and I felt horrible doing it. The little grey one drew blood as he bit my finger. I wondered at that time if I'd be able to tame them. I've heard it said you can't tame wild kittens but that is certainly not true. These are already tame though two of them did spent the first day hissing. By day three you would never have been able to tell they weren't bottle fed their whole lives.
I keep them in the spare bedroom in a playpen with a piece of plywood over the top. They're allowed out several hrs every day to play. They took to the litter box right off and have not had a mistake yet.
It's very difficult for me to get good photos of them, due to my shoulder injury, but I'll post whatever is worthy as I obtain them.
They are already on their 2nd jar of milk replacement, $10 a jar, and I've spent another $20 in cat food and litter. They are sick, but due to now being unemployed because of my shoulder, I can't afford to take them to the vet, as of yet. But I'm working on that. All three have the snotty noses, and matted eyes.
I'm very worried about the little black one, she's the runt and is not adjusting to solid foods very well. She is my fav of the three as she is the sweetheart who purred the very first day and never once showed any signs of aggression. She is so tiny compared to the other two that it amazes me that she can even walk, much less hold her own against the bigger two. I'm providing her additional feedings. Please keep this little kitten in your thoughts.
It will be very difficult to see them go to new homes but it's much better than thinking of them fending on their own at the barn.

I've always wanted to be able to share my bounty of graphic goodies but held off until the folder functions were established. Anything having to do with digiart, or graphic resources will be located at my second site. You can locate it here: Deefilly-2.
As time permits I am uploading seamless textures and in the future I'll be uploading picture frames, various plug-in presets, e-cards, and anything else I find fun to create and might think useful to others.

We often miss the small things in life as we rush through the day doing whatever we need to do to survive in this hectic world.
